Synopsis

This play is set in a typical American town where processing coal is a way of life.  Amanda and Christy hear a compelling message from a missionary speaker who visits their school and receive their own New Testaments they decide to follow the Roman's Road listed in the back, pray to receive Christ as their Savior and Lord, and put their names in the decision section.  When Amanda's father learns of the guest speaker's message and gifts to the students he is appalled and angered.  He presents a bitter argument for not believing in God and forbids his children from reading the Bible or going to church.  He takes Amanda's Bible and puts it with his lunch pail.

There is an accident in the coal mine the next day.  With little hope of getting out alive, he turns to the New Testament that he finds with his lunch as a source of paper to leave a note for his family.  In a very emotional climax to the play, the rescue team finds the trapped workers too late.  They find the New Testament and see that every victim listed their name in the decision section.

I would have to recommend that you read through this play. Read the words, visualize the stage, and think about the audience's response at the end. This play provides a strong emotional presentation during a season that can be highly emotional for some. It will compel all to remember the real reason for the season - the birth of Jesus Christ and the hope we have of an eternal home in Heaven through His death and resurrection.
