Corporate Compromise

Biblical Reference: John 10:10

Approximate Running Time: 10 minutes

Cast of Characters: 1 Male, 4 Either Sex

Synopsis

This play conveys how compromise can sneak up on us when we don't realize it. Sometimes we start doing little things that are wrong, not realizing that others are noticing. When there are no consequences for our actions, we begin to add to what we are doing, until we are eventually caught doing things we never would have thought of doing in the first place.

Doug is a regular guy working at a regular office when he is approached by four special agents who represent the special task force assigned to investigate company employees for corporate theft. He's a regular guy who never even contemplated stealing anything from the company. His questions cause the agents to let him know that the small amounts of time and resources he has taken without authorization, such as long coffee breaks, has counted against his record. The time and resources have added up to the point where the company has to do something about it. He's fired from his job when he didn't even know he had done anything wrong.

This funny play will illustrate how easy it is to give in to compromise. We just give in a little, thinking that no one will notice. When our deeds go unnoticed we take a little more. The pattern continues until we find ourselves in a situation we never wanted to get ourselves into.
