The Heart and Soul Series is a series of five powerful monologues written to convey various struggles and triumphs of five different women who are looking back on the experiences of five different stages of life. These monologues can be performed individually, on consecutive weeks, or as a single program.

The Teenager is the first of the series. It presents the viewpoint of a young teenager as she prepares for life. She shares with the audience how she feels as she is trying to break free from her parents, yet keep that cord ready and waiting as a safety mechanism. She talks about grades, boys, friends, peer pressure, and other things that most teenage girls struggle with in life.

She stresses the lessens that she has learned to date. Namely, that you should live your life without being bitter about the things going on around you. She shares how she has learned that the Lord is there to guide you through your life, that He comforts you in your time of need, and that He's all you need.

This monologue will relate well with teenagers, and it will bring those who are older back to a time when they had to struggle with the same things. It may even spur those who are older to offer advice and insight to the younger members of your congregation.
