Mid-Life Crisis The Heart and Soul Series is a series of five powerful monologues written to convey various struggles and triumphs of five different women who are looking back on the experiences of five different stages of life. These monologues can be performed individually, on consecutive weeks, or as a single program. Mid-Life Crisis is the fourth in the series. It presents the viewpoint of a mother of older children who have recently left the nest. She is faced with a new role in their lives that she is having a hard time dealing with. The term "Mid-Life Crisis" strikes fear in all of us. We all know what it is, we all know how one gets there, we all know that it's not a fun part of life, and we all think that it's gonna' happen to someone else. It's hard to plan for a Mid-Life Crisis because they just come upon us and take us surprise. No matter how strong our family lives are, no matter how strong our spiritual walk wit the Lord is, no matte how minor a crisis, we all feel inadequate, left out, and we are faced with the need to direct our lives in a new direction. This monologue stresses the difficulties in letting the Lord have complete control over our lives, but that God is in control whether we want him to be or not. "Don't plan for tomorrow because tomorrow will worry about itself." This has become her theme verse, and I believe that it applies to all of us, whether or not we're in the midst of a Mid-Life Crisis. Order This Play
