Joseph's Story

Biblical Reference: Phillipians 3:10

Approximate Running Time: 15 minutes

Synopsis

How would you feel if you had been given the opportunity to be the father of the Lord Jesus Christ incarnate? What would it have been like to raise Him as a child, to watch Him grow and develop into a strong young man, to witness His spiritual transformation as His ministry began, and to give Him up to a world that wanted to kill Him? What would you do if the girl that you were betrothed to told you that she was pregnant with the child of God?

Through this monologue your congregation will be able to relate their parenting experiences with what it must have been like to raise Christ as a child. They'll understand the decisions that Mary and Joseph had to make, the pain that they experienced as they watched him grow older and leave them, and the insights that they learned from a long-term parent/son relationship with the Son of God.

Joseph shares how his relationship with Christ is patterned after his relationship with his father, his father's father, his father's relationship with his father. He also shows how his relationship with Christ is different because Jesus was God's son. The monologue ends as Joseph reflects on the example that Christ showed him through the life that He lived and how he can learn from the teachings of the Son of God.

Through this monologues, Joseph stands before your audience and shares his thoughts on what it was like to raise the Son of God. This monologue will work well for a special Father's Day presentation, but can also be used for any service throughout the year.
