A Fairytale Story Called Ravenwood

Deep in the woods of Southern Ohio there is a mediaeval themed bread and breakfast named Ravenwood. I had the privilege to visit Ravenwood this August and I wish to share the experience with you. I was asked to write a mediaeval mystery dinner to help commemorate the fiftieth wedding anniversary of a wonderful couple who had established themselves as trend setters by throwing wonderful parties for family members and friends. This was meant to be a party which showed "the masters" that the apprentices had learned well.

The party was a complete surprise to the royal couple. Family members and friends converged on Ravenwood and the party began.

The mystery dinner, which was written specifically for the event, is the third that has been produced by Acts of Light. It is entitled A Feast For A King - A Mediaeval Mystery. You can gain more information on the details of the Mystery Dinner by referring to the A Feast For A King page.

I'd also like to note that the staff at Ravenwood are just great. They made our stay something to remember. From the elegance found in the rooms, to the ambiance set at dinner, to the intricate details of operating such a facility. Their warm hospitality and wonderful cooking have made a return visit a must.

I owe a debt of gratitude to a special friend who allowed me to borrow his digital camera. It is through the images taken with the camera that I am able to give you a tour of the facilities and a visual picture of the evening. You can gain more information, and view more pictures of Ravenwood, by visiting their web pages.

Upon entering the parking area of Ravenwood,
you approach the castle and know that you are in for a treat.

The entry into the castle is enclosed and dark,
forcing a foreboding mood upon you
as you prepare to knock at the great doors standing before you.

Also adding to the atmosphere are the gargoyles
who stand on either side of the entryway.

And the armed knight who blocks the way.

The interior of the Great Hall is the first thing that guests see as they step into the castle.
A large dining area, a stone hearth fire place, stained-glass windows,
and a deck overlooking the woods are all within view of the Great Hall.

Below are pictures of the group A Feast For A King was written for.
While the game can be played by any group, in any building, this event within the walls
of the Ravenwood Castle will always be special.

These pictures can give you an idea as to the variety of characters involved in A Feast For A King.
You will also get an idea of how your group can dress for the game.
This group did a wonderful job of costuming for the event!
