American Gladiator Event - ScoringEach event has dynamic scoring that encourages competition between the two teams and gives individual incentive to give it their best. You will need to have at least one score keeper per team. The score keepers need to have a list of the scores applicable to each game and plenty of paper to keep their running total going. We did address one specific potential problem regarding scoring. Many of the girls in our youth group were smaller and less athletic than the guys. How could we make the games fair for both of them without making the girls feel as if we were taking it easy on them (which is a HUGE insult - I found that out the hard way!), and yet encourage them to participate in the events. We decided to double all of the points for the girls. That way the Gladiators were able to compete with them just as we did they guys, even more so because we knew that their points were doubled. This worked out really well. Many of the girls competed, had a lot of fun, and scored pretty well. We were told that those who chose not to play the games wouldn't have played the games regardless of how easy we made them. The Target Throw 500 points just to play. 5,000 points if you hit the target. 500 points if you threw all the balls, missed, and touched the x on the wall. The Wrestling Competition 500 Points just to play. 500 Points in after 15 seconds. 5,000 Points in after 30 seconds. Power Ball 500 Points just to play. 1,000 Points for a ball in the four outside baskets. 5,000 Points for a ball in the inside basket. Football Run 500 Points to play. 1,000 Points if you pass the first Gladiator. 5,000 Points if you pass the second Gladiator.
