Follow That Shepherd

Biblical References: The Christmas Story

Approximate Running Time: 15 minutes

Cast of Characters: 3 Male, 4 Either Sex

Synopsis

The shepherds weren't the only ones to see the angels as they visited the hillside outside of Bethlehem the night of Christ's birth; the sheep were there too. One of the sheep watched the angels proclaim the birth of Christ and wanted to see what the shepherds were so excited about. He woke up one of his closest friends and the two follow the shepherds as they go to see the newborn king.

This cute play tells the story of their trip from the hillside to the side of the manger where Jesus lay. Along the way, the two sheep run into a number of animals who know about the savior who was born. The young lion knows that the baby Jesus is the king of the tribe of Judah, the donkey proclaims His kingly status, the shepherd dog and the shepherd boy tell of shepherds excitement over being able to witness Jesus' birth.

Children and adults will enjoy this humorous story that proclaims the story of Christ's birth and what it means to us.

This play can be used as a puppet production, or can be used as a people production with the use of creative costuming.
