Biblical References: Malachi 3, 2 Corinthians 9 Approximate Running Time: 10 minutes Cast of Characters: 2 Males Synopsis When summertime comes around does your church notice a change in the amount of tithe that is given to the church? Do you get the feeling that your church members spend more money on their summer vacations than they do on their summer tithe? Are you having problems convincing your church members that they need to give of their first fruits rather than giving from what is left over after they spend all that they want on themselves? "I Need A Vacation" is a play about a man who approaches his pastor in an attempt to get his church to pay for his summer vacation. His main premise is that others have gained financially because they have retained their summer tithe while he has faithfully given to the church. He now finds that he can't afford to take his family on vacation so he approaches the pastor of his church to see if he will pay for his family's vacation. His request for a check to cover the costs of his summer vacation spurs some interesting dialog along with a lot of humor. Upon receiving the idea for this play I immediately thought of two different ways to go with the idea. Vacat1.doc takes a more serious approach in teaching the importance of giving from the first fruits of our labor, but this version of the play does have its humorous points. Vacat2.doc takes a more humorous start but also teaches the importance of tithing from our first fruits. The third version of this play incorporates the best parts of the two plays that provides a powerful impact on your audience. I performed this third play in our church and there were people who believed that the letter that Pastor gave to me was real! If you're looking for a humorous way to make a strong point regarding the importance of tithing of your first fruits to your local church, then you have to read these plays. Order This Play
